Biography
Carrie Schormann focuses on estate planning, estate and trust administration and estate and trust litigation for families. Her experience includes all types of basic and advanced estate planning, formation of business entities, private foundations and charitable trusts. Carrie prepares estate and gift tax returns and other fiduciary tax returns for her clients. She also represents personal representatives and trustees in connection with estate and trust administration matters.
Carrie works collaboratively with other professionals (such as accountants and financial advisors) so that the client's needs are met in a holistic and comprehensive manner.
Representative Experience
Estate Planning
Carrie will assist you in developing and achieving your estate planning objectives while minimizing estate, gift and income taxes and potential family conflicts. From implementing creditor protection planning to creating a comprehensive estate plan for multiple generations of your family, Carrie can assist you in structuring an estate plan that incorporates your goals and objectives. Carrie listens to her clients to craft unique resolutions to complex estate planning issues.
Carrie has significant experience in assisting clients in implementing lifetime gifting strategies to transfer significant wealth to the next generation, including the transition of family business assets.
Antenuptial agreements and postnuptial agreements can be an important part of an individual's estate plan. Carrie routinely assists in negotiating and drafting these agreements for her clients.
Estate and Trust Administration
The loss of a loved one is a difficult time for many people. Carrie is experienced in assisting families in all states of estate and trust administration to enable clients to navigate the complex process of collecting and distributing assets after death. Carrie will assist you in completing the administration process quickly and efficiently. Carrie has extensive experience working with surviving spouses learning to manage their wealth for the first time.
Estate and Trust Litigation
Carrie works directly with individual and corporate fiduciaries to resolve disputes involving the fiduciary's administration of estate and trust assets and the interpretation of provisions of estate planning documents. Carrie also works with beneficiaries to resolve family disputes involving estate and trust assets.
Carrie advises clients on the proper procedure to reform trusts to better meet the needs of the beneficiaries and the goals of the grantor, and she assists clients through any court proceeding necessary to obtain approval of reformation.
